A recent study of over 1,000 churches across the United States who had recently completed capital campaigns revealed that seemingly subtle differences in the ways various churches approached their campaigns yielded startling and significantly different campaign results. The study was conducted in June-July 2010 by Volkart May & Associates, a Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota based marketing and market research firm.

Why would anyone want to be Chairman of the Stewardship Committee?
The church plays a very important role in my life and in the life of my family. I had asked Alan Gates several years ago, what could I do to repay St. Paul's for the enormously supportive role St. Paul's had played in the development of our kids. Three years ago, Alan asked me to be Chairman of the Stewardship Committee.
Over that time period I have witnessed the leadership and development of our Rector Alan Gates. I have experienced the time and energy Alan and the entire leadership team at St. Paul's have invested in creating a clear written vision for our church. It has been extremely valuable that so much time and so much energy has been exerted and such a large number of our congregation has been deeply involved in creating a broad and comprehensive consensus on our future direction.
Watching this plan come together and becoming part of it, I have decided that it is a priority to me to focus my energy on helping Alan, and helping St. Paul implement our vision. Now is our time. I have backed away from other non-profits in which I am involved. I am increasing my time and resources, and stepping up my personal giving to St. Paul's to be supportive of this important effort. The Stewardship and the Capital Campaign this year will need all of us to step up our commitment to St. Paul's, and enable our vision to become a reality.
